The Taos Peace House and Infoshop
Mission Statement Implementing a Strategy for Peace, Social Justice and a Sustainable Future.
The Taos Peace House and Infoshop
is one of a growing number of progressive activist infoshops and peace
centers. The global coordination office of Food Not Bombs started the
Taos Peace House and Infoshop with a grant from Ben and Jerry's
Foundation. The Taos Peace House continues to support the Saturday Food
Not Bombs vegan meal at the Taos Plaza from 2 to 4 PM. We are still
organizing actions for peace, social justice and the earth. The Taos
Peace House is also the home of the global coordination office of Food
Not Bombs helping start and support new chapters, organizing tours and
Food Not Bombs Gatherings. If you would like to support the Taos Peace
House you can mail donations made out to Food Not Bombs to P.O. Box 424,
Arroyo Seco. NM 87514
A peace house and infoshop is a storefront
or social center that serves as a node for the distribution of radical
and progressive information, typically in the form of books, zines,
stickers and posters. Infoshops often serve as a meeting space and
resource hub for local activist groups.
The Taos Peace House
and Infoshop will provide zines, books, music, and information about
how to create an alternative society based on peace and equality. Your
support is needed.
The Taos Peace House supports many local
projects like Food Not Bombs, Indymedia, Food Not Lawns, and other
progressive activities. We are growing food, organizing the registry of
land with water rights to help feed Taos County.
The worldwide
network infoshops has provided a place for people to connect with other
activists and plug into local and global activities and information.
Like the other infoshops The Taos Peace House and Infoshop provides
literature, lectures, videos, cultural events to foster peace, social
justice and respect for the environment. The public can also get
uncensored world news as well as the latest information about how to
support local and global protests and campaigns. We have been contacting
progressive publications requesting bulk orders. Please let us know of
any publications we should carry. We will also host workshops on many
issues such as alternative energy and transportation, democracy and the
use of Formal Consensus, organic gardening and natural medicine, popular
media, event, tour and campaign planning, drumming, puppet making, radio
production and vegan cooking. We are planning to set up a 45 watt FM
radio station and website to provide information to the community about
efforts to end the wars and create a sustainable future. This summer we
are setting up an outdoor stage, oven, grill and green house to start
vegetables. Along with t-shirts, books and bumper stickers we will have
hemp items. These are just a few of the great opportunities available.
