WELCOME TO THE TAOS PEACE HOUSE AND INFOSHOP

The Taos Peace House and Infoshop is one of a growing number of progressive activist infoshops and peace centers. A peace house and infoshop is a storefront or social center that serves as a node for the distribution of radical and progressive information, typically in the form of books, zines, stickers and posters. Infoshops often serve as a meeting space and resource hub for local activist groups.

The Taos Peace House and Infoshop provides libraries of zines, books, music, and information about how to create an alternative society based on peace and equality. Your support is needed. We are organizing the World Peace Conference to be held in Taos the last week of May 2009. Please attend our meetings and volunteer to staff the house. As the global economy fails the Taos Peace House and Infoshop is providing direction and hope.

The Taos Peace House supports many local projects like Food Not Bombs, Indymedia, CodePink, Veterans For Peace, and other progressive activities. We are growing food, organizing the registry of land with water rights to help feed Taos County.

The worldwide network infoshops has provided a place for people to connect with other activists and plug into local and global activities and information. Like the other infoshops The Taos Peace House and Infoshop provides literature, lectures, videos, cultural events to foster peace, social justice and respect for the environment. The public can also get uncensored world news as well as the latest information about how to support local and global protests and campaigns. We have been contacting progressive publications requesting bulk orders. Please let us know of any publications we should carry. We will also host workshops on many issues such as alternative energy and transportation, democracy and the use of Formal Consensus, organic gardening and natural medicine , popular media, event, tour and campaign planning, drumming, puppet making, radio production and vegan cooking. We are starting a GI Coffee House to support military resisters. We are planning to set up a 45 watt FM radio station and website to provide information to the community about efforts to end the wars and create a sustainable future. This summer we are setting up an outdoor stage, oven, grill and green house to start vegetables. Along with t-shirts, books and bumper stickers we will have hemp items. The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) has sent us 50 of their "War is Not the Answer" signs which you can get for a donation. We will have Joanne Forman's CD of her PEACE PRAYER, based (in English!) on a Navajo text. Help us organize the 2009 World Peace Conference. These are just a few of the great opportunities available.

HELP US PLAN THE 2009 WORLD PEACE CONFERENCE

MAKING FRIENDS WITH IRAN

A war against Iran could cut off from 20 percent to 50 percent of the world oil supply. A U.S. or Israeli attack would increased hunger, homelessness, poverty and spark a global economic crisis. the Taos Peace House is organizing to stop a possible war against Iran. We are also working to help feed and support our community as the economy fails. Please read these articles and contact us to join in our work fro peace.
